Prayer for Healing for Victims of Abuse
God of endless love, ever caring, ever strong, always present, always just: You gave your only Son to save us by the blood of His cross. Gentle Jesus, Shepherd of Peace, join to your own suffering the pain of all who have been hurt in body, mind, and spirit by those who betrayed the trust placed in them. Hear our cries as we agonize over the harm done to our brothers and sisters. Breathe wisdom into our prayers, soothe restless hearts with hope, steady shaken spirits with faith: Show us the way to justice and wholeness, enlightened by truth and enfolded in your mercy. Holy Spirit, comforter of hearts, heal your people’s wounds and transform our brokenness. Grant us courage and wisdom, humility and grace, so that we may act with justice and find peace in you. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Dear friends,
We must never forget those who were hurt by our neglect, indifference and ignorance. We must lift up in our prayers and love, the courageous and heroic actions of many who brought to light the crimes and sins of clergy, religious, and church workers who abused others. Pray for forgiveness for the many others who failed to protect the children and teens entrusted to our care. Because the revelation of abuse was hidden for so long, many still hold secret their pain. Families have been broken, trust has been betrayed and lives have been changed or lost. There must always be atonement: a deeper soul searching, a vigilant implementation and teaching of safe environment policies and education to set up a new Church culture where all are protected and loved. May we always seek out those who are hurt and make the love and healing of Christ a true presence and reality.
In His love,
Fr. Sean
EVERYONE HAS A ROLE IN PROTECTING OUR CHILDREN!
Child Safety – it’s everyone’s job
In our Collaborative Parishes of Sacred Heart and Saint Thomas More and our Sacred Heart School, as in the parishes and schools of the Archdiocese of Boston, children are of the utmost value. That’s why policies are set in place to ensure their safety.
Along with archdioceses and dioceses in the United States, the Archdiocese of Boston has been focused on implementing measures in restoration of persons injured by clergy abuse, awareness education for adults and children, and screening of volunteers and employees to establish safe environments for children and adults in all diocesan functions and activities. The purpose of the various programs are to develop, maintain and make sustainable an overall program that keeps a community aware of the individual contribution that is necessary to keep all safe but especially children safe.
